Can you tell us what went on in the gathering of the opposition constitutionalists in Brussels over the weekend?
Foad Pashaie:
The Constitutional Party of Iran has a biannual Congress during which we look back at our activities and plan a new strategy for the next year, as well as choosing a new executive committee and head for it.
Ms Haideyh Tavakoli ha snow been elected as the General Secretary of the Party for the next two years and we have also benefited from Dr. Mansour’s economic advice.
We support the establishment of a constitutional monarchy for Iran and a parliamentary system of governance where the monarch is only a symbol and the country is run by a prime minister, vey similar to United Kingdom.
Hassan Mansour:
I congratulate the Constitutional Party of Iran for their efforts and recent congress.
My speech at the meeting as an observer was about the economic crisis in Iran and what economic policies a future democratic government for Iran should adopt to end the current crisis.
The focus of my speech was on Iran’s banking system and I argued that they are not acting in the interest of the people and are not safe places for the Iranians to deposit their monies in them.
Another major economic problem of Iran is the fall of its national currency against the foreign currencies which is caused by the oil export which is the main revenue of the state.
