Behind the Headlines/september 14

Jamshid Chalangi:

In tonight’s program of Behind the Headlines:

The political consequences of execution of Kurdish youth for the regime;

The intensification of factional rifts among the regime’s officials;

From the brothels of Mashad to the issue of Chinese fishermen in the Persian Gulf, and other news stories;

Our guests tonight are Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh and Mohammad Nourizad.

But before that we offer our sincere condolences to the families of our colleague Nasser Mohammadi and the actor Saeed Kangarani who died yesterday and today respectively.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Nasser Mohammadi died painfully as he lost his young son two years ago. He was a very sensitive person and when Kayhan newspaper closed down it was a major shock for him.

Jamshid Chalangi:

Even in the French and Chinese revolutions this many journalists and intellectuals as we see among the exiled Iranians did not flee their countries.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Khomeini never had the same nationalist sentiments that we have. He always thought now that he has taken over in Iran he has conquered a major part of the Islamicworld and still wanted to capture the rest of it.

His view of Iran was like he has inherited a land for himself, but our people thought he was a man of God who had said in exile that he believes in freedom for women and even his political opponents. They say he even opposed the killing of fly but we all know how many people were executed under his regime.

However, I think after Rouhani no one would ever trust these people anymore, especially some who have now been forced to live in exile. There is this man who used to praise Khamenei on TV interviews, but is now a sworn enemy of the regime and publicly says he hates the mullahs.

Mohammad Nourizad:

Khomeini did not know anything about the modern humans and the world. He did not have any sense of family relations and did not know what love means. But he had this hidden talent and agenda to take advantage of the situation and rise himself to the top.

The Pahlavi era where Reza Shah and his son Mohammad Reza Shah ruled Iran our country entered the modern world as they loved the country and wanted it toprogress.

This naturally put the mullahs in a difficult situation as they were asking themselves what now for them, because they did not know anything about working or contributing to the progress of the country.

They were a bunch of illiterate and hungry people who had emerged from the dark ages of history and were blood thirsty for revenge. If they could not build anything, they were masters of destruction.

As such they loved wars and hostage taking and once in power began executing all their opponents.

Jamshid Chalangi:

The former head of the Basij militia Mohammad Reza Naghdi has said yesterday that under the Shah Iran and Iranians were humiliated by the world.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Naghdi and his father used to sell candles outside the religious shrines in Karbala before Saddam threw them out of Iraq. But the Shah of Iran offered them refuge, housing, money and education.

The head of judiciary Amoli Larijani did not have a penny when he too was thrown out of Iraq and the late ayatollah Shariatmadri used to pay him a salary to maintain his family.

Naghdi is just a murderer who plotted the assassination of his own cousin who was a member of the Mujaheddin opposition group and for his crime he was promoted to therank of a general under this tyrannical regime.
