In tonight’s program of Behind the Headlines we will look at the latest economic news of Iran in light of Ali Khamenei’s claims that the Islamic republic regime will be around in the Persian Year of 1444 when Iran has become of the most powerful countries of the world.
We will also look at the murder of Dr. Farshid Hacki, the human rights and wildlife activist whose burnt body has been found in his car.
Our gust tonight to discuss these issues is political activist and commentator Koroush Kalhor.
How do you assess Khamenei’s claims?
Koroush Kalhor:
The record of 40 years of the rule of this regime is open for everyone to look at and make a judgment about it. They are neither statesmen nor managers to run a country with complications like Iran, while our country has one the largest human and natural resources in the Middle East.
This regime has done nothing but to destroy these resources and the evidence is there for everyone to see.
So, Khamenei’s grand claims are not going to impress our people, as they are all empty.
Jamshid Chalangi:
The Iranian government says no Middle Eastern issue will be solved without the Islamic republic regime’s involvement.
Koroush Kalhor:
This claim is both true and false. If Iran were to be run by a democratic government then yes, our country will have something to say to the rest of the world. But under this religious regime that has destroyed our country who is going to follow this failed example?
This regime has only lived on slogans and crisis and its only export to the region has been instability and chaos.
Once it leaves the scene then Iran will become a major power in the Middle East
The problems that exist in Iran are not made by the US, on the contrary, the nefarious activities that the regime has carried out for continuous year have brought these problems onto our nation.
