Behind the Headlines/March 13

Jamshid Chalangi:

In tonight’s program we will discuss the following topics;

What type of government or system is the Islamic republic regime in comparison with other kinds of states and political establishments?

What has Rouhani’s achieved from much publicised official trip to Iraq?

What is the Russian foreign policy for the Middle East region?

Our guest to discuss these issues with him is the prominent Iranian journalist Amir Taheri.

I look at Iran as a changing entity and in the long run the current situation of it will change. In other words, we need to look at an Iran that will come after the current regime.

Amir Taheri:

Nowruz and the Persian New Year is just a few days away and I am actually speaking at the gathering of Ferdowsi Cultural Foundation on Sunday about the significance of this historic festival for the Iranians and how our country is at the centre of this ancient tradition.

Iran can maintain its regional power if it plays its historic role as a promotor of peace and coexistence among all the nations of the region and beyond it in the wider world.

We must prepare ourselves for the arrival an Iran that comes once this regime is gone to restore our country’s deserved place in the international community.

I believe we must have a free Iran in which even those who seek partition from our country have their legitimate right to speak. We will listen and reason with them and our people will have the final say about their objectives.

I have had the benefit of knowing about the sentiments of our people when it comes to our national unity as during my job as the editor in chief of Kayhan daily I used to receive reports from 600 correspondents from all over Iran.

The Iranian regime deliberating frightens our people from partitioning of our country by opposition forces in order to maintain its rule, which is in fact the main danger for this ever happening.
