Tonight we will find out how the rising cost of living in Iran is affecting the lives of the citizens as the ruling regime still insists on continuing with its expensive nuclear program.
Sadly the flow of refugees from the war-torn counties of Iraq and Syria into Western countries still continues as I recently came across an Iraqi lady in Toronto airport who opened her heart and described the harsh conditions that people of the Middle East region are suffering from as a result of so many crisis in there.
In Iran meantime the corruption of top officials is a never ending story and we will look at how after the 1979 revolution the new regime inherited a modern economy and billions of dollars of reserves but has now turned the country into an economically bankrupted one where poverty rules over the population.
As mentioned, I was visiting Toronto recently and came across the information about how so many officials of the Iranian regime have now bought numerous palaces in the affluent parts of the state and opened bank accounts packed with millions of dollars of money stolen from the wealth of the Iranian people.
Thousands of Iranians are sleeping rough on the streets every single night while the likes of Khavari who was once the governor of the central bank of Iran fled the country will billions of dollars with the help of top government officials.
Our gust tonight is Mr Hassan Etemadi who will share with us his views about the latest news of the activities of the 14 civil rights activists.
Hassan Etemadi:
So far more than 750 civil and human rights activists have joined the 14 individuals and their movement and it appears that support for them is growing among the Iranian opposition forces.
Their action has truly been heroic given the repressive nature of the regime in Iran and as I have said before the least we can do is to promote their cause andmessage for change in Iran, which is a demand for a democratic and secular system of governance for our country.
