Behind the Headlines/December 28

In tonight’s program of Behind the Headlines:

Faezeh Rafsanjani has been talking about how the Iranian regime has lost all its legitimacy and she seems to be the only member of the Rafsanjani family whostill dares tell the truth about the real state of the regime.

But does this have anything to do with preparing for the next presidential election in Iran?

Our gusts tonight are Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh, Hassan Shariatmadari and Heshmatullah Tabarzadi.

Heshmatullah Tabarzadi:

When a regime loses its legitimacy, naturally the factions within it start to challenge each other with the aim of trying to save it from collapse.

However, when we hear this reality of the situation in Iran from the mouths of people like Faezeh Rafsanjani, it is a ploy to divert the attention of our people from the fact that her own family is also responsible for the miseries of our nation and then create a platform for the so-called reformists to pretend that they can save the country form collapse by dragging our people to ballot boxes.

We need to be very cautious about these ploys and not play into the hands of these opportunists.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

I see a difference here and that is that her father has been killed by the regime and she is trying to say that in his absence the country has been dragged into an abyss. At the same time she is trying to create a role for herself by forcing the regime to react to her comments.

At the same time the similar comments form Mr Tajik as Khatami’s former advisor means that in the Iran of today the so-called reformists have no future in shaping the future of the country.

Hassan Shariatmadari:

When the situation becomes uncontrollable those within the regime try to approach the opposition forces to save themselves in any future change in the country.

This would in turn lead to even further disintegration of the regime from the within.
