Jamshid Chalangi:
In tonight’s program our special guest the oil market expert Sohrab Sobhani will tell us more about the recent Caspian Sea Convention as well as what the real share of Iran is in accordance with this new deal.
In the second part of the program the lawyer Mr Ali Harisschi who has accepted to represent the complaint of the victims of Sanchi oil tanker tragedy in US courts will explain the case to us as families of the victims are asking for accountability and compensations from all companies involved in that tragedy.
Sohrab Sobhani:
The fact of the matter is that Iran has lost a great deal of its national interests as a result of this deal. The main oil and gas resources are actually in the coastal areas of Iran, Kazakstan and Azerbaijan. But out of the 480 billion barrels of the estimated oil in between these three countries Iran has only around 48 million barrels.
The issue gets even worse when the major oil companies of the world are abandoning Iran’s market who would be interested in investing for Iran in the Caspian Sea for a country whose regime is in trouble at home and isolated abroad!
As such, we can say that Iran has been given a share in this deal that cannot even access it!
Ali Harrischi:
Our firm of lawyers is representing 11 families of the Sanchi oil tanker’s victims in US Federal Courts by holding to account Iran’s own National Oil Company as well as the foreign oil tanker operators.
The issue here is that the government of Iran admits that it is in possession of all documents and the black box and must legally provide these vital information to the court for the delivery of justice to the families of the victims.
