We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue tonight’s program with talking to our dear guest of every Thursday Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, who would share with us his expert views about the news and current affairs of Iran and the Middle East region.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
I quite liked your poems as it reflects the plight of our people these days. They are under the repressive regime of Khamenei and his clique as the regime is trying to scare off our people against any uprising against it, which makes the situation even worse.
They have already arrested 150 people in the province of Khuzestan as well as Kurdistan and West Azerbaijan and we must praise their struggle as they are not just defending the name and memory ofCyrus the Great, but the existence of a country called Iran.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
The Iraqis have now formed a new government that includes ministers from the Shias, Sunnis, Turkmens, Christians and even the Yazidis. But when you look at Rouhani’s cabinet, there is not even one Sunni Iranian among his ministers.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
This regime has done a great damage to our national identity and history by trying to separate being an Iranian and at the sametime a Muslim.
Our national culture is a mixture of Iranian nationalism, Islam and our ancient religions. These three elements have acted together to keep our nation together for centuries and during the last 200 years modernism and a tendency towards Western values have been added to them.
We are now hostage of a regime that is at war with Iran’s history and nationalism as well as modernity as if it has started a new Crusaders.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
How do you see the situation in Iran on the eve of the 4 November sanctions?
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
The Trump cabinet is going ahead in full force against the Tehran regime and the head of the project is Mr Brian Hook who has now set up a headquarter for this purpose that includes staff from the CIA,State Department, Defence Department and other special agencies that deal with Iran.
Mr Hook is the direct choice and representative of Mike Pompeo in dealing with the regime and Pompeo is quite serious in cutting off regime’s support for terrorism and nefarious acts in the region.
