A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/May 24

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Today is the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Khoramshahr from the Iraqi occupying army.

We won the war with Iraq as we took 40,000 prisoners of war and our national army liberated the ruined city while still under attack by the newly establishedregime.

However, ayatollah Khomeini did not want to end the war and allow our nation to celebrate this victory, which had been achieved after 150 years since Iran lost its last war with the Imperial Russia.

His regime of ignorance and repression continued the war for several more years until he finally drank the chalice of poison and accepted a ceasefire with the Saddam regime.

While the regime is gagging all our national singers and has banned their public performances and stops even people playing a simple flute at funeral services, I have seen a book published by one of my dear friends the late Mahmoud Khoshnam about Iran’s contemporary music, which bring tears of joy and sadness to anyone who reads it.

As reported earlier in the week, the Omani Foreign Minister Mr Ben Alawi has traveled to Tehran, carrying a message from the US government.

He has conveyed a message to Tehran that Trump is not a Barack Obama and that the US is very serious about its threats and a war can completely destroy Iran and it is in the interest of the regime to enter negotiations with Trump.

However, it appears that the Omani mediation has not born any fruits and as such they have had close discussions with the British government to protect their own interest in the event of a war breaking out in the region.

It was after this development that the UK government announced that it would be on the side of the Americans if their interests is threatened by a military clash in the Persian Gulf.

And in Tehran Rouhani’s chief of staff has denied Oman is mediating between US and Iran

Mahmoud Vaezi has told local press: “Yusef bin Alawi’s visit to Iran was merely for discussions about bilateral relations between our two countries. We never talked about Oman mediating between us and Americans”.
