We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with talking to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, for his views about news of Iran and the Middle East.
While I was visiting US last week I had a feeling that the climate of a confrontation with Iran existed in Washington.
President Trump has said that he does not want a war with Iran but the regime in Tehran has been provoking US by its proxies attacking the Saudi targets and yesterday the Houthis attacked the Najran international airport with drone.
Mohsen Sazegara:
The Americans are following a very specific strategy towards the regime and that is to put continuous economic and political pressure on it to force it surrender to their demands.
The US intelligence agencies have looked at the recent attacks on their embassy in Baghdad and have concluded that they have been carried out by the regime’s proxy forces and some of this intelligence have been given to them by the Israelis.
So in order to deter Iran and its proxies to launch more such attacks President Trump has ordered the US army to be prepared for a response if these attacks continue.
However, the US does not at the moment want a war and they have conveyed this message to the regime through direct and indirect channels. If they ever engage in a war it would be done by targeting specific military and communications centers of the regime.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
The attack on the tankers in Fujaireh has also been carried out by the mini-submarines of the regime, called Majib, which houses two operators, one of which is a frogman and leaves the device and attaches the mine to the body of the tankers.
Mohsen Sazegara:
I am not a military expert but had seen a report that the attacks on the anchored tankers had been carried out by firing rockets from speedboats and the attack on the Saudi pipelines was done by using drones.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
The Arab mediators have told the regime not to provoke the Americans, as they will respond without hesitation.
