We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with paying tribute to the memory of Iran’s former nationalist Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq, as well as remembering the father of Iran’s “new wave poetry” style, Ahmadreza Ahmadi.
Later we will look at the background of John Bolton before he became the new US National Security Advisor in Donald Trump’s cabinet.
We will follow the program by looking at the history of NIAC, the Islamic republic regime’s powerful lobby in US, as its head, Trita Parsi has announced that he is to step down at the end of June this year.
NIAC, the National Iranian American Council has long acted as the lobby of the Iranian regime in US, with the aim of changing the view of American governments towards the Iranian rulers, portraying the Tehran regime as an “immortal system” that the US must accept and come to terms with it.
In pursuing this policy of appeasement, NIAC has been showered with the regime’s unlimited financial support, as well as that of the CIA, and probably from other foreign governments.
Hassan Daie, a well-known Iranian political activist has long been involved in exposing NIAC’s secret links with the Iranian regime and even single handedly won a court case against them when NICA sued Daie on alleged charges of defamation.
In the second part of the program we will first update you on the latest news of Iraq and how the Iranian regime’s plots to influence the outcome of their elections have been defeated.
Also, in the second part of tonight’s program we will report on the new US strategy on Iran, as outlined today in the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s speech at the Heritage Foundation.
Pompeo vowed the Trump administration would renegotiate the current deal and listed 12 conditions Iran must agree to for a new deal. Those include giving the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the full history and military dimensions of its nuclear program, stopping all enrichment including closing its heavy water reactor, giving the IAEA unqualified access to the country, ending proliferation of ballistic missiles, releasing all U.S. detainees and ending support for proxies around the Middle East, as well as ending its threats against Israel and Saudi Arabia.
He said: “We will apply unprecedented financial pressure on the Iranian regime. The sting of sanctions will be painful if the regime does not change course from the unacceptable and unproductive path it has chosen to one that re-joins the League of Nations. These will indeed end up being the strongest sanctions in history when we are complete.”
He continued: “As President Trump said two weeks ago, he is ready, willing and able to negotiate a new deal, but the deal is not the objective,” he said. “Our goal is to protect the American people.”
Pompeo added that the administration wants congressional support for its efforts. The Iran deal was not structured as a treaty, meaning it did not require Senate approval.
“We want our efforts to have broad support among the American people and endure beyond the Trump administration,” he said. “A treaty would be our preferred way to go.”
In the coming weeks, Pompeo said teams of specialists would be traveling around the world to explain the administration’s policy and discuss the implications of sanction reimposition.
At the end of tonight’s program we will look at the current position of Ghassem Soleimani within the Islamic republic regime.
