We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
I was watching the news and noticed that the Chinese prime minister has been speaking to a group of senior officials about the new Silk Road project, which now includes Pakistan.
Iran has always been at the heart of the Silk Road, which connects the Far East to Egypt and Africa.
However, when in the 21st century an incompetent and corrupt and murderous regime rules our country, the only benefit of this historic trade and cultural route for our nation can only be zero.
We used to think of the old China as a country fraught with miseries of wars and opium addicts. But thanks to their modernization and investments of the Revolutionary Guards and Khamenei’s cronies it has in the last forty years become a major financial power of the world.
India alone exports 45000 of its scientists to Germany and in our rich and historic country people are fighting in queues of buying subsidized meat!
I put this question to our special guest of tonight Dr Sadiq Yazdchi, as to why we have degenerated so much?
Dr Sadiq Yazdchi:
With my greetings to all your viewers, I am an old man but still look forward to the day to return to our motherland.
My responsibility now is to transfer my life long experiences to the younger generations of our country to get to know their turbulent history and avoid any further suffering for it.
In the past and during the rule of the Pahlavi dynasty our opposition forces were mainly the left and nationalist forces. However, both of them had political views that were close to Western cultural and social values. Even today, if we want to have a proper opposition front, it must have a Western outlook, as there is no other progressive ideology in the world.
One Syrian writer has correctly said that for the Muslim world to achieve peace and progress it must say farewell to its centuries old and outdated practices and embrace democracy and pluralism. And our country is not an exception here.
