We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Today is the International Workers’ Day and we celebrate and respect it along with millions of workers who through their daily hard labour make our world a better place.
In Iran however, we have a regime that represses our hard working people and denies them their basic human rights and jails and tortures those who stand up to its crimes.
Instead the regime spends millions of dollars of our workers’ money on arming the Hezbollah and Iraqi militias and builds luxury apartments for them to buy their loyalty and support for its nefarious activities in the Middle East region.
Tonight we speak with our special guest the renowned Iranian singer Mr Sattar.
Mr Sattar:
I also congratulate this day to all workers of the world. I wonder why the same oil workers who went on strike and brought down the Shah’s regime forty years ago do not rise up now when our young people are hanged from cranes on our streets?
I have a friend who has told me that if one they Mr Khayami of Iran National car manufacturing company returns from his exile they will welcome him with a party. You can see how these mullahs have been put in power with the aim ofdestroying our country.
I have always tried to remain a responsible artist and along with singing have spoken out against the crimes and misdeeds of the ruling regime in our country.
It is a pity that this regime has brought nothing but misery and sadness for our people and still continues to do so.
This regime is simply an illegal and repressive regime and we do not deserve to be ruled by it.
