We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
On the eve of the anniversary of the death of Khomeini we will look back at his return to Iran from exile and how he was finally buried. We will also discuss his legacy and what it has meant for Iran’s history.
Later in the program we will look at the Quds Day and what went on in the conference of the Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia over the weekend.
President Trump has arrived in Britain for an official visit and we will find out why he has slammed London’s Muslim mayor before his plane had touched down and being welcomed by the British Royal Family and the Queen.
Trump’s visit to UK comes at a very crucial time as Theresa May has resigned as the Prime Minister and the Brexit dominates theBritish politics.
We also heard the very sad news of the veteran translator Morteza Kalantari, 87, committing suicide in Tehran by throwing himself out of his apartment’s window.
Like the late Pour Zand, he could no longer tolerate the psychological tortures that the Iranian regime has put on our artists and academics.
Some of our fellow Iranians were thinking that Trump would walk into Iran and remove the Khamenei regime from power.
Others were asking for a military attack on Iran by the US. But I for one would not support this view and oppose any action that could harm our people and motherland.
Trump will most likely wine the 2020 election in US again and would not endanger his presidency by waging another war in the Middle East.
However, he would create the conditions for theIranian people to rise up themselves and oust the regime.
Mike Pompeo has already made it clear that the US would not initiate a war with Iran but the moment that the regime attacks any targets in the region again the US army would respond without hesitation.
