A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/June 14

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We continue the program with some of the latest news stories about Iran and then talk to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, who would share with us his expert opinion about these news stories as well as the US-North Korea agreement and its affects on the despotic and corrupt Islamic regime in our own motherland.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Hassan Rouhani has expressed his “surprise” about why the Iranian people are so much tuned to satellite channels that beam into Iran from abroad.

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

Today’s program coincides with the start of the World Cup in Russia.

As for Mr. Rouhani’s comments, I doubt that very much like you and me he does not know the answer to his question. He knows very well that it is the censorship and repression of the free press and media in Iran and the crackdowns on journalists that has for decades forced the Iranian people to tune to satellite channels based outside Iran.

Iran’s national broadcasting organization is a state-run mouthpiece for the regime’s policies and does not allow any opponents of the regime to have access to it to speak to the nation from its channels.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

If you look at the free and privately run TV satellite and cable channels that operate in the Persian Gulf countries you would be surprised.

Now, let’s go back to the Trump-Kim summit.

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

The meeting has certainly been a victory for Trump. They have so far managed to agree on a four point initial deal but until a full and final agreement there is still a long way to go. It will take some while before we reach that point.

However, it is interesting to note that Khamenei has visited North Korea before and can now see that their leadership has given in to the economic and political pressure. Trump’s hardline approach may not have worked with the Europeans but it has certainly achieved its objective with one dictator so far.

You can see that after North Korea, now China has softened its stance against US and soon the Russians will follow suit. And if this trend continues, the last remaining problem for Trumps to solve will be the Iranian one!!

You can imagine that in view of the secrets that the North Koreans hold on Iran’s nuclear and missile program how worried the regime’s leadership might be.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

I bet Khamenei wished that Kim Il Sung was still alive as he does not trust his son and thinks he is so naïve.

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

The decision by the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to support the Conservatives’ resolution calling for an end to efforts to renew diplomatic links with Iran and naming the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization is a correct one.

It has proved that his government believes that Iran has been an accomplice in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Today what is needed is for the regime to keep a low profile and avoid any heightening of the tensions for our people and country. But we see it actually acts in the reverse and sends its mercenaries to Iraq to create a new alliance with its new government in a direct action against the national interest of Iran.
