We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with remembering Iran’s renowned filmmaker AbbasKiarostami on the anniversary of his death.
The regime’s propaganda machine has produced a TV serial called Gando to distort the truth about the reality of Iran’s socio-political life.
In the serial some young Iranians who pretend to be from the lower classes andloyal to the regime run its cyber war against foreign powers and follow thecase of Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post’s correspondent who was held in Iran for over two years on spying charges.
The production has backlashed as even senior officials of the regime have questioned its authenticity and criticised its biased political propaganda.
Meanwhile Jason Rezaian is suing the regime in US courts for several million dollars for the tortures that he suffered during his detention in Iran.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the student uprising in Iran which began with anti-regime rallies in Tehran University and then spread across other academic centers, during which one student was killed by the regime’s thugs and hundreds injured and arrested.
One student however became internationally known for his picture on the cover of the Economist magazine holding the bloodied shirt of one of the victims, and that is Ahmad Batebi who now lives in exile in US.
Other prominent student leaders like Manouchehr Mohammadi and Ebrahim Nejad also gave their lives in the path of freedom for Iran and we will never allow their names and memories being eroded from the history of our country.
The so-called reformists in Iran have once again been making noises as they canclearly see the overwhelming dissatisfaction of the Iranian people with theregime.
I do not know why these people do not just leave the scene respectfully and allow our people to determine their future.
It is astonishing that most of these reformists like Tajzadeh and Nabavi have been imprisoned and tortured for many years by the despotic system of the Velayate Faghih, and yet they are still looking for a solution to Iran’s numerous social, economic and political problem under the same corrupt dictators!!
