A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/July 5

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We continue the program with talking to our special guest Dr. Kazem Kardavani.

In Iran, the chief medical officer of the country’s association of surgeons

Dr. Iraj Fazel has written to the head of judiciary Ebrahim Raeesi who is responsible for the murder of at least 5000 political prisoners, and warned him to cancel article 47 of the criminal justice laws which allows his office to sell the organs of people on the death row in Iran’s prisons.

Dr Fazel has correctly said that this inhumane and barbaric practice makes ourcountry look even more as a rouge and lawless nation in the eyes of the international community.

At the same time today we had the news that the British Royal Marines have helped seize an Iranian supertanker suspected of carrying oil to Syria off the coast of Gibraltar, escalating tensions between the UK and Tehran.

Dr. Kazem Kardavani:

As you are aware, inside Iran 14 opposition activists have signed a letter andcalled for the resignation of Khamenei and the fundamental change of our Constitution.

Together with Shirin Ebadi and Mr Hassan Shariatmadari we had also issued a similar statement before to join the opposition forces inside and outside the country together.

However, our argument was that this regime is not reformable and the experiences of the last 40 years have shown this. But the reformists inside Iran insist on changing the regime’s behavior from the within by promoting the rights of the Iranian people through lawful channels.

It is interesting that the letter by the 14 activists has done away with the reformists’ line of politics and this shows that the political climate inside Iran has changed significantly.

These 14 opposition activists are not very well known among the international community but are sincere patriots who have put their lives in danger and it is our duty in the exiled community to support and promote their cause to instigate a national movement inside the country.
