We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with a quick look at the anniversary of the hanging of the reactionary cleric Sheikh Fazlulah Noori who had opposed the democratic Constitutional Revolution of 1905 in Iran and paid a price for it. It is interesting to know that this very cleric has been a “hero” for the current dictatorial rulers of Iran.
Today we also pay tribute to the memory of the late Iranian traditional singer Mohammad Nouri on the anniversary of his death.
Later we will report on the latest news of the nationwide strike by Iran’s truck drivers and the support that they have received from Prince Reza Pahlavi, human rights activist Heshmat Tabarzadi and political activist Hassan Shariatmadari who has rightly compared their industrial action with the strikes by the oil workers and staff at Iran’s national broadcasting organization that led to the downfall of the Shah 40 years ago.
In his message to the truck drivers Hassan Shariatmadri has told them to appreciate the significance of their strike as a similar action that led to the fall of the Pinochet regime in Chile.
In a country where its chief judge the corrupt Ayatollah Larijani has 63 secret bank accounts and keeps stealing the public’s wealth, a hardworking truck driver has to struggle round the clock to feed his hungry family. This is an absolute corrupt regime that must go and there is no other alternative if the Iranians are to have any chance of living in peace and rebuild their country for a better future.
We have received some exclusive reports about a secret meeting of the reformists in cleric Khoiniha’s home in which the former president Mohammad Khatami, ayatollah Khomeini’s grandson Hassan and Mr. Boroujerdi and some other top former officials had attended to discuss the post-Khamenei’s leadership structure of the regime and they have all agreed that the Islamic republic regime must be ruled by a “leadership council” after Khamenei’s death.
The meeting’s decision has been relayed to Khamenei himself and he has agreed to “think about it”, while the report says the name of Mujtaba, his son, is among the members of this “council”.
We also have an exclusive report on Ghassem Soleimani’s several meetings with US officials in Iraq where the Americans have proposed to him that the Revolutionary Guard should take over the government in Iran in view of the current situation in the country.
Soleimani and his team of other Guards commanders such as Sardar Jazayeri and Sardar Salami with the help of theircontacts in Iranian embassies in some European countries have been engaged in secret negotiations with some Iranian opposition figures to find out their views about a military take over in Iran.
In the second part of the program we willlook at today’s mass protest demonstrations in the city of Isfahan.
