We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with talking to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, for his views about the latest news of Iran and the region, including the deaths of 10 university students in a coach accident caused by negligence of the authorities.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
This was a tragic accident and the students of Azad University have shown their rightful protest and hold the authorities to account.
The Azad University is one the largest in the world in terms of its departments and the number of students and if the protest spreads to all of them it will become a huge movement.
Now Sadeq Larijani has been appointed as the chairman of the Expediency Council and the dean of the university Velayati has more than 37 jobs all the same time.
This goes to show how after 30 years of his rule Khamenei has run out of choices to have any new figures to occupy these positions and he is only limited to the people who are within his circle of power.
All the accidents and problems that we see in Iran arise from one source and that is Khamenei himself who is encircled with a bunch of incompetent stooges, including Velayati who has to carry so many jobs.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Now our pensioners have been protesting outside the Majles building.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
That is right, and in recent days even retired army personnel have joined them, some of who do not even have any decent accommodation to live in them with their families.
Hashemi Rafsanjani’s daughter Faeze has also been speaking out about the suspicious circumstances in which her father had died but we are not sure if their family will follow this issue through or they are just making a comment.
