We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Today we speak to our special guest Dr. Mohammad Hossein Sadiq Yazdchi who would share with us his view about Iran’s burning issues.
We begin our discussion by asking him how over the centuries the Iranians have turned from a happy an celebrating nation into a nation of following hypocritical religious leaders and listening to their sad sermons and crying with them.
How has Iran’s rich and historic culture collapsed under the current regime in matter of forty years time?
Dr. Mohammad Hossein Sadiq Yazdchi:
We must look beyond the surface of what is happening in Iran to find the roots of this change in our behaviour and thoughts.
Our problems are historical. We have not reached true modernity despite all the previous efforts in our recent and old history. We have lived under mountains of superstitions and backward religious ideologies for the last 1400 years.
Modernity is not in having skyscrapers and modern highways. We need to have modern thinking attitude and culture and dissociate ourselves from all those ideas that want to take us back to backward religious thinking and use our logic mind to live our lives.
