We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
In tonight’s program we have invited the legendary Iranian artist and TV presenter Faramarz Forouzandeh to introduce himself and give us a bio of his life and career in recognition of his long standing contributions to Iran’s media industry.
Faramarz Forouzandeh:
I was born in Imamzadeh Yahya district of Tehran and later moved to love in the Tehran Now area and lived there until I leftIran after the revolution.
I come from a middle class family of a government employee parent who used to work in the Post and Telegraph Department of the pre-revolution regime.
My mother was a very educate woman and my father did also play in popular movies. I picked up his interest in arts and cinema and remember watching films while sitting on his laps in the old Tehran cinemas.
I studied film and directorship at Tehran University but then my parents were a bit religious and thought entering the world of arts was against their faith.
I later entered the National Iranian Televisionunder Mr Qotbi’s management.
In exile I joined Voice of America.
