We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with talking to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, for his views about news of Iran and the Middle East.
The regime of ignorance and tyranny in Iran does not even tolerate one small street being named after our country’s legendary traditional singer, Mohammad Reza Shajarian.
It has now mobilized its thugs to gather on that road and shout slogans against Shajarian and call him “a member of sedition”, for his heroic support of the Green Movement. And this is from a bunch of vile people who are the very essence of sedition and corruption in Iran.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
I pay my deep respect to Mr Shajarian as a pride of our nation. We must also appreciate the Tehran City Council’s decision to name several streets after our national cultural personalities and hope that they will not back off from their decision in face of this vicious attack on them by a gang of hooligans.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We must also condemn a similar criminal act carried out under the guise of religion in Sri Lanka in recent days in which hundreds of innocent women and children are massacred.
It think it is high time Muslim intellectuals and true leaders do something about this gross abuse of Islam by these ignorant and vile people.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
This act of terrorism has truly saddened the world and made true Muslims feel ashamed of certain misguided people tarnish the image of their religion.
I also believe it is high time Islamic thinkers did away with most of the Sharia beliefs that are not compatible with this day and age of human civilization and get rid of many of the backward and medieval teachings of the religion that have only been brought about by ignorant people pretending to be the representative of Islam.
