A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/April 3

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Today we will speak to our special guest Mr Reza Tabatabie who is an expert in the business of purchase of oil platforms, by asking him what does he thinkabout the corruption in Iran’s oil industry as a senior member of Khamenei’s office, Mr Taheri, has been involved in stealing millions of dollars funds that had been allocated to buy an oil platform, but has never faced any justice.

Mr Reza Tabatabie:

Sadly in Iran all economic matters have been contaminated with the politics of the country’s interest groupings.

This matter has been solved in the Western world as they follow the free market economy and people are equal in face of the laws. But Iran’s social and political conditions are prone to corruption as its economy is run on the basis of connections with the regime and high authorities.

In the year 2000 most of the equipment for Iran’s oil industries were being bought by a group of people who were involved in foreign trade business. They used to buy drilling and pipes forIran through mostly their Canadian middlemen who also acted as their lobby.

If anyone wanted to get involved in their business they had to accept certain politics that were being dictated by the Tehran regime.

During my time of involvement we bought more than 50 sea and land oil platforms for the country’s energy sector from China, which greatly helped with their industries’ output.

Generally speaking, in the energy sector you need expert manpower and capital investment, as well as political stability, to be able to compete within the OPEC as a powerful member.

During the time of Khatami one of the deputies in the oil industries had suggested that Iran must begin to invest in manufacturing the equipment needed for its energy sectors inside the country but certain people whose financial interests lied with the middlemen and lobbies stopped this project
