A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/March 5

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Today is the anniversary of the passing of the late Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq. He was a great Iranian leader and will remain so in our history.

He not only nationalized Iran’s oil industries, but also contributed to the ideal of brining democracy to Iran.

If it were not for the negative meddling of the likes of ayatollah Kashani in Mossadeq’s campaign and his close associates had remained united, the future of our country would have been very different today.

Sadly the destiny of Iran seems to have been divided between periods of moving towards prosperity and then a sudden change towards dark chapters.

Khomeini’s hatred of Mossadeq and his nationalist policies were so deep that the moment that he took over the rule of Iran he condemned our national hero as an “anti-Islam” politician and banned the activities of his followers by calling them as “infidels”.

But the millions of people who gathered on the grave of Mossadeq after the revolution tells us he lives in the hearts and minds of the Iranians for ever.

Going back to the shameful comments of Abdulkarim Soroush about the place of Khomeini in our history, one wonders why he has made such comments at this juncture of time and if he is involved in a plot by the regime that we know nothing about it.

The way Soroush has so kindly talked about the murderous rulers of Iran has astonished many Iranians including his own close friends and followers and we must remind him that he is whitewashing the crimes of the most savage and barbaric regime in Iran’s history.

The newly released photos of incarcerated Mir Hossein Moussavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard has made us think how so many people have lost their lives and hopes under this regime.

Khamenei used to stay at the residence of Mir Hossein’s father when he was living in internal exile before the revolution and this is how he has returned all that kindness to his son.

I do not agree with Mir Hossein’s politics of his support for Khomeini’s regime, but he was never a corrupt politician and styed clean all his political life.
