We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We begin tonight’s program with reporting on the vile and disgraceful attempt by the regime to change the timeless nationalist anthem of “Ay Iran” and turn it into a “religious” one, which has been condemned by millions of Iranians inside and outside the country.

Today is the birthday of the poet Houshang Ebtehaj aswell as the singer Leyla Forouhar with whose songs we share many good memories of our lives.

Trump and the North Korean leader are meeting again which is good news all round. The Americans and Korean fought for many years in the past and many were killed in their wars but now a new North Korean generation has concluded that peace is the thing that will bring them prosperity and abetter future.

Arab and European leaders held a joint conference on Sunday in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the first ever EU-Arab League summit as the region faces turmoil and political challenges.

During the summit the Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud said the international community should step in to rein Iran’s hostile policies and interference in other countries’ affairs.
“The Iranian regime’s support for the terrorist Houthi militias and others in the region, its aggressive practices and its blatantinterference in the affairs of other countries require a united international position,” King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud said at the first Arab-European Union summit in Sharm EL Sheikh.
“Iran must abide by the rules of good-neighbourliness and international law and put an end to its nuclear and ballistic programme.”

The Saudis have now appointed Princess Reema bint Bandar as their first female ambassador to US, which is a significant social and cultural change for the kingdom.
At the end of the program we will look at this year’s Oscar where the Green Book has won the prize for best film.
Later we will also look at the launch of Quqnoos (Phoenix) project and discuss how it can help in building a new post-regime Iran.
