In tonight’s program of Behind the Headlines we will look at the Halloween celebrations in US, which goes back to many centuries before the arrival ofChristianity in the West to pray for the dead in wars, but gradually becoming the scary party as it is today.
We mentioned scary party, but in Iran the scare and terror have ruled every single day for the last 40 years under the Islamic republic regime as the country has been at war for 8 years which ended in nothing but millions of deaths and injured and the destruction of the country, and to this date no one really knows which powers were behind it.
Now Mr Teymoori, one of those injured in that war with Iraq is here with us to tell his story, while many of the commanders of the Revolutionary Guard and mullahs have turned millionaires and with US dollar bank accounts abroad, people like him cannot even afford themedication that they need to survive.
Mr Teymoori:
We live with the Zayandeh Rood River in Isfahan. Only last week an old man whoneeded 15000 tomans to buy his medicine died because of poverty. He was a farmer who used the river’s water to grow crops but as it has dried up he did not have any source of income and died in poverty. Imam Hossein says if you do not have any religion or faith, at least have some humanity.
Jamshid Chalangi:
We are all indebted to our war veterans regardless of your intention for taking part in that tragic war.
It is sad that Iran had never been sanctioned by US for buying and receiving drugs and medical equipment. In US there are many foundations that provide free medicines to patients and Nowruz Foundation of Mr Malizadeh has already sent $100,000 worth of drugs to the Yazidis in Iran and Iraq.
Mr Teymoori:
I can say that the entire Iranian nation and any one who has an Iranian birthcertificate are suffering at the moment.
