Behind the Headlines/October 26

In tonight’s program of Behind the Headlines we will look at the latest economic news of Iran as the truck drivers’ strike continues and the regime threatens them with death penalty.

We will also look at the murder of Dr. Farshid Hacki, the human rights and wildlife activist whose burnt body has been found in his car.

Later in the program we will also discuss the US oil sanctions on Iran and how the new Iraqi government is distancing itself from Tehran.

Our gusts tonight to discuss these issues are Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh and Mohammad Nourizad.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

The death penalty threat against the striking truck drivers is driven from the same mentality that this regime has had since its inception.

The brains of the ruling mullahs of Iran are filled with medieval thoughts and superstitions and the moment anyone disagrees with them they condemn them to death by labeling them as “corrupt on the earth”.

They regard themselves as God who can end some one else’s life.

I witnessed the execution of the Shah’s generals when this regime came to power and after they were killed at 4 am in the morning they brought the 78 years old Khomeini to watch the dead bodies of the generals and when he left he said they have gone to hell and I can now pray to god and thank him for this!!

They have executed thousands of young people whose graves are not even known andtoday arrested an innocent journalist who has said that Imam Hossein died, instead of saying he was martyred!

Mohammad Nourizad:

I attended the burial of Farshid Hacki today and noticed that the regime has begun a new wave of violent purge of its opponents.
They have now charged the five wildlife activists with spying and have launched a new crack down on anyone who dares speak up against the current situation in Iran.

I believe the reason for this is that behind the scene the regime is falling apart and losing its stability as we approach the 4 November, which is the beginning of the US sanctions.

Dr. Farshid is now the latest victim of this new round of repression and he was a noble man and if you put all Khamenei’s men on one side they will not be equal to Farshid Hacki’s integrity and honour.
