A Window to the Fatherland/Dr. Nourizadeh/July 27

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We continue the program with remembering the late Reza Shah the Great and his son the late Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, on the occasion of the anniversary of their passing.

Yesterday marked the anniversary of the death in exile of Reza Shah the Great, a man and soldier who inherited a country devastated by centuries of backwardness, poverty and the rule of warlords, but worked tirelessly for sixteen years and turned it into the new Iran as a country with roads, railways, hospitals, secular justice ministry, national army, universities, radio stations and many other modern institutes.

Today also marks the anniversary of the death of his son, Mohammad Reza Shah, as a patriot king, who many might still hold reservations about his security police SAVAK, but history has proved that he loved Iran and whatever he did was for the best interest of his people and eventually was forced to leave the country and died in Egypt where he was buried honourably, thanks to the sincere friendship of the late Anwar Sadat.

We continue the program with speaking to our special guest Dr. Mohsen Sazegara.

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah have both joined history and I believe it is high time we looked at their rules without any biased opinion and admire their good service to the country while criticizing their mistakes.

They were the two kings that brought Iran into the modern world and carried out great social and economic reforms for the nation and will continue to be remembered as such.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

The election in Pakistan is over and Imran Khan has managed to win more than 95percent of the votes. Does this mean the Pakistani people are sick and tired of their previous leaders?

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

Politicians are not exactly very popular creatures. People would like to see some freshfaces every now again, especially if their leaders have not performed well in office.

In Pakistan the power has been changing hand very frequently and apart form the political parties, we have also seen the top brass and generals have ruled the country alternately.

Imran Khan is certainly a new and modern face and can bring about many social changes to the country.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Yesterday Mr. Mike Pompeo pointed at certain matters regarding Iranian regime but stopped short of attacking the Revolutionary Guard and instead focused on Ghassem Soleimani and his mercenary mullahs.

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

The points that Mr. Pompeo said about the Iranian regime were not new to most of the Iranians. However, the significance of them is that they come from the mouth of the US Secretary of State. I think it indicates how informed the Trump administration is about the situation in Iran.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

What do you think we should do about this regime? What choices do our people have?

Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:

I believe every one more minute that this regime stays in power another day of misery will be forced upon our people. The sooner this regime is removed the better as it will never ever be able to solve the country’s endless problems and our duty as responsible Iranians with any political view is to find themost peaceful way of ousting this regime to avoid the disintegration of our motherland.
