We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
I need to mention a point about the recent statement of Kak Mustafa Hijri, the General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.
My relationship with our Kurdish people goes back to many years ago. I had organised a meeting between two prominent Iranian Kurdish leaders with Prince Reza Pahlavi in my own office.
I had hoped that the meeting would lead to removing years of mistrust between the two parties. But sadly mentioning this event in my program on this channel has led to some misunderstanding for my friends and Kak Hijri has decided to make this issue public by issuing a statement and saying that he has not reached any agreement with Prince Reza Pahlavi. He could have raised this matter with me privately over the phone. Anyhow, it is too late but I still remain sincerely his and Prince Reza Pahlavi.
Tonight we have a report from our senior foreign correspondent Mohammad Reza Shaheed who is accompanying the French President Emanuel Macron on his trip to the Vatican.
We will continue the program with playing a few video footages of today’s protest rallies and demonstrations by the bazaaris in Tehran.
Thousands who turned out in Tehran to protest against the country’s deflating economy were met with tear gas and police lines as they clashed with security services and forced the temporary closure of the city’s Grand Bazaar.
As the crowd swelled, riot police fired tear gas on protesters and traders throughout the capital’s historic bazaar were made to shut shop. A separate protest saw demonstrators attempting to encircle the Iranian parliament.
Video posted to social media showed protesters chanting “Let go of Syria, think of us”, a reference to the Iranian military presence in Syria in support of President Bashar Al Assad. The campaign, overseen by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is believed to cost Tehran tens of millions of dollars a month.
We salute our Bazaari communities who have once again, like the time of the Constitutional Revolution of 115 years ago, have joined the freedom movement of Iran and are at the forefront of the struggle to oust the despotic clerical regime in our country.
In the second part of the program we will report on how the regime’s media have launched a campaign of smearing our struggle by claiming that we are advocating the break up of Iran among our ethnic people.
And Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that the existence of Iran is in danger. I ask Mr. Zarif, who else but your master Mr. Khamenei has taken our country to the brink?
I am sorry Mr. Zarif, you and your regime are in danger of being removed from power by the nation soon and our country of Iran will be saved in the absence of your regime.
Stay with us for this edition of A Window to the Fatherland and share it with your family and friends.
