We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
We continue the program with updating our audience with some of the latest news stories about Iran and then talk to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, who would share with us his expert opinion about these news stories.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Khamenei’s recent statements have seriously worried me and when we listen to Dr. Zibakalam’s warnings about how Khomeini carried out the war with Iraq until surrendering to realities of its devastating consequences on our country, one can only assume that his insane successor would also do the same with his nuclear ambitions, which would eventually lead to another war.
Do you think that eventuality now awaits our country and people?
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
Well, that is the one million dollar question and we do not really know how far Khamenei wants to drag this sheer madness and if they now want to make a nuclear bomb.
In any case, whatever he and his regime decide it will be walking through a dark tunnel at the end of which nothing but calamity and misery awaits the Iranian people.
I ask Mr. Khamenei “who has given him this absolute power to single handedly decide about the future of the Iranian people?” He is not allowed to speak on their behalf and tie up their future and the future of many more generations to come to his insane personal ambitions. Our people do not want to link their lives to this business of uranium enrichment, which has devastated the lives of millions and caused costly conflicts and destructions for our country. Khamenei is a coward dictator.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Khamenei has commissioned Rouhani to carry out his malicious orders to hide behind him for when all goes dramatically wrong for his policies.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
In reality all that we expected from Trump’s decision is happening so fast, as all European and Asian major companies are abandoning the Iranian markets. Khamenei’s futile whim has so far cost our nation more than 500 trillion dollars and now the Saudis and the Russians have joined hands to increase their output of oil to cover for the millions of dollars of revenue that Iran is losing because of the sanctions. Khamenei alone has done more damage to Iran than what all our enemies put together could do.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
A commander of the Revolutionary Guard has said that the US is on the verge of collapse while the regime itself is on the verge of it.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
How does that help our people? What do we gain from the “collapse of US”? The Soviet Union collapsed and we did not get any benefit from it. May be Khamenei is thinking that one day he will reside in the White House!
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
What do you think should be done to avoid the disintegration of Iran and a civil war when this regime falls?
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
Our reformist friends argue that if this regime is overthrown Iran becomes a second Syria. This is a completely wrong assumption. Iran has not been created by colonial powers. We have been invaded very many times during our long history and every time we have risen again. Our people have a national and unified identity.
We must oust this regime and it must go. If we wait another twenty years for it to be reformed nothing will be different from what it is today, except that Iran would be completely destroyed by then.
We must confiscate all political and financial powers of Khamenei and the Guard and under the supervision of an international organization hold a referendum to decide if our people want this regime or a new system of governance for Iran.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
