Saudi Arabia, Britain Commit to Confronting Iran’s Destabilizing Behavior

Jeddah, London – Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, held a telephone call with British Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss the latest regional developments.

A statement from the British premier’s office said that the two officials stressed “the need to tackle Iranian destabilizing activity in the (Middle East) region,” reported Reuters on Sunday.

“As part of this the Prime Minister noted the importance of cooperation between their two countries to protect Saudi Arabia from ballistic missile attacks” launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

They also discussed the oil markets, noting “the importance of stability in the markets, which they said was in the interests of both consumers and producers,” a statement said.

They spoke by telephone on Saturday.

Prince Mohammed and May had met in London earlier this year with discussions focusing on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and Tehran’s destabilizing role in the Middle East
